Two suspected miscreants were killed in a reported gunfight with police in Kamalnagar area near the Bypass road in Satkhira early Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Dwip, 25, son of Moinul Islam of village Munjitpur of Satkhira town and Saiful Islam, 30, of village Saihati of Ashashuni upazila.

Md Mostafizur Rahman, superintendent of police, said they arrested Dwip and Saiful on Friday over snatching of Tk 26 lakh from a Bkash company agent in Kaliganj upazila.

Police took them to recover the money. When they reached Kamalnagar area around 3:00am, associates of the miscreants open fired on police to snatch them, leading to a gunfight, the SP added.

They were caught in the line of fire and died on the spot, he said.

Two firearms, four bullets, two knives and a motorbike were recovered from the spot.
